Miguel’s Jr. celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday, July 18, by giving out free slices of cake from 2 to 4 p.m. at all 23 locations. The first 50 guests at each restaurant also received a card for a free shredded chicken or beef taco with any purchase.
Founder Mary Vasquez and her son, CEO Javier Vasquez, attended the celebration at the original location in Corona, opened in 1975 by Mary and her late husband, Mike Vasquez. While the exact opening date is unclear, the family marked the milestone with this event.
Now 82, Mary remains involved in the business and recently appeared in a Facebook reel discussing the original menu. The chain has also expanded its offerings to include fries, chicken bites, and a new merchandise line.
